3D SPORTS CAMP STAFF
3D Sports is now hiring coaches for our 2010 spring and summer camps for the following sports:
- Soccer
- Speed-Agility-Quickness
- Basketball
- Field Hockey
Please check the 2010 schedules at the "camp" links to determine your availability. Preference WILL be given to coaches who can work multiple camps. If you are interested in becoming a member of the 3D Sports camp staff read below to see if you meet our criteria:
Primary (mandatory)
1. I enjoy working with young people!
2. I have experience coaching youth players.
3. I have references.
4. I have competitive playing experience.
Secondary (would be nice but not required)
1. I have leadership experience (e.g., captain, camp counselor, club coach)
2. I have a coaching license.
3. I have collegiate playing experience.
You will notice that playing experience appears last on each list. 3D Sports is an instruction based sports academy and we are interested in positive role models with an aptitude for coaching. Playing experience is imperative as you will need to demonstrate skills when you instruct your group. However, we are first and foremost interested in individuals who truly enjoy coaching young players and who love the game!
If you become a member of the 3D staff you will be expected to engage your players and to improve their sport knowledge and playing ability. That is a tall order, especially considering that you might have kids in your group with little or no playing experience or interest in improving. However, I know from personal experience that it is a realistic expectation.
If you have read through all of the above and are interested in making money while doing something you enjoy, you can reach us by calling 757.969.5716.
What if I don't have coaching experience yet?
Coach in Training (CIT) Program
If you are interested in coaching but have not had the opportunity to get any coaching experience (and you are a high school junior or older), you should consider applying to the CIT Program.
The CIT Program is comprised of individuals who are sincerely interested in learning to coach. CITs will receive:
1. Free training by attending 3D Coach Training sessions (for all camp staff)
2. Free training by attending a CIT seminar with the Director of Coaching
3. Interactive on field mentoring
4. Hands on experience in a supervised environment
5. Dozens of drills and games and other handouts
The CIT program is designed to give you a chance to learn how to coach with training wheels on. To accomplish this, CITs are paired with more experienced coaches at 3D Camps. At camp, CITs function as assistant coaches by helping to set up and explain drills, demonstrating skills and providing 1 on 1 instruction to players in their group. Before the end of the week, each CIT will set up and run one drill on his or her own and will receive feedback on her or his coaching effectiveness from the Camp Director.
Because this is a unique program, we are very selective in choosing our CITs. Although CITs are "in training", they are considered part of the staff and must therefore be mature, responsible, and hard-working.
If you are interested in becoming a CIT, click on the "Contact Us" link to start the process.
